It looks great.

Sadly, a '72 T-R6 isn't as good as it looks.

Purists would scoff, but this is a clear example of a car that deserves a full resto mod: everything new except the body. And obviously if you're gonna do that, you're not gonna pay $12k for one.

Big fan of most Triumphs, including the TR6.

Seeing as I've already got my Spitfire (which will be getting a TR6 engine), I'd have to do something different with a TR6.

My thinking is get some flared wheelarches Group44 style and the 2.6l Triumph developed I6 from the Rover SD1 2600.

Although it only made 136bhp in stock trim, it was running a fairly strangled tune to keep it below the Rover V8 flagship model power-wise (for instance, it ran the cam from the 2.3l engine).

Thus, I'm thinking that with a hotter cam, some tougher internals and either triple carbs, fuel injection or ITBs I could have an engine making somewhere between 190 and 220bhp. Enough to go chasing 3.0l CSLs at any rate.

Plus, it would be close to what Triumph would have replaced the TR6 with in an alternate universe where they just kept plugging away with the old TR chassis, rather than going radical with the TR7 and TR8.

Unfortunately not, just the picture that set off the idea in my head.

If I were to get one, I'd probably paint it white with the triple green stripe at the front, maybe the '44' on the bonnet.
